Born in Germany to Scottish parents, Victoria was raised in Germany, the U.S., and Scotland. Her interest in Africa was sparked during her teenage years in Scotland—surrounded by classmates from Botswana, Uganda, Kenya, South Africa, and Zimbabwe, she was drawn to their stories of home.
Victoria began her tourism career in destination marketing, promoting the City of Berlin and the United Kingdom. Her career and passion for Africa soon converged—first with an Egyptian tour company, and later with a luxury tour operator specializing in southern Africa—before she found her home at African Portfolio in early 2018.
Why is Victoria so drawn to Africa?
“There’s the natural beauty, of course, but for me it’s the people you meet. They have such a love for their country and are so passionate about sharing it with others, and this really shines through. It allows visitors to have a truly authentic experience. Creating an African itinerary for a client isn’t just a job—it’s a journey, from the first telephone call until the trip is completed. It is a delight to help create memories that will last forever.”
Her favorite destination is often the last place she visited, and includes the wild landscapes of Zambia and Zimbabwe along the mighty Zambezi, the lush green hills of Uganda and Rwanda, and the stunning beauty of the Okavango Delta. Victoria sums up her love for Africa with a quote by Ernest Hemingway:
“I never knew of a morning in Africa when I woke up that I was not happy.”
